I'm Helen Colcombe and I lead learning in geography at The Vaynor.

At The Vaynor we have established a geography curriculum which inspires our children to develop curiosity and fascination to learn about the world and the people within it. Our curriculum prepares children with the knowledge of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, along with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. They study the school’s locality of Redditch and learn how Redditch has developed over time from its beginnings as a ‘new town’. As children progress through the school, this knowledge about the world grows, as do their geographical understanding and skills, helping them to explain how the Earth’s features are shaped, interconnected and change over time.
