British Science Week
During the week of 9th-13th March, Year 4, along with the rest of the school, celebrated British Science Week.
We focused on electricity, learing about Thomas Edison and watching a fantastic roadshow on electricity. In the classroom, we learned all about how a lemon can be used as a battery (yes really!) and tried this out for ourselves! We had our parents in to help us with a marshmallow and spaghetti challenge and learned that some of them can get VERY competitive! A big thanks to all who came along and helped to make the afternoon so much fun for the children!
The absolute highlight of the week was the visit from Dr Lynne Long of the University of Birmingham's Physics Department. She brought in liquid nitrogen and really helped to bring our learning about states of matter to life.
It was a great hands on week where we all (teachers included) learned at least one new thing.
