Year 2
Welcome to Year 2!
The classes within our Year Group this year are: Miss Phipps 2HP, Mrs Easden 2NE and 2CG with Miss Goddard.
Hello, and welcome to Year 2! We are the second year group in Key Stage One. As with the other year groups, life in Year 2 is extremely busy, where we are always on the go and learning lots of new skills. It is a great place to be!
WELCOME TO THE SUMMER TERM!
We are all very excited about being back after our Easter break, and our topic for Summer 2025 is:
The Great Explorers!
We will be starting our journey by learning about Charles Darwin and using our science lessons to understand just how his discoveries changed our understanding of the animals on our planet. This will also link with our Geography learning where the children will use their knowledge of the continents and oceans to describe the journey Charles Darwin took on his famous trip to the Galapagos Islands.
In Design Technology, we will be using food technology and specifically chipping skills to work together across the three classes to create a meal for Charles Darwin on his return from his great voyage. Children will have the opportunity to design, create and evaluate a three course meal made across the Year Group. We will draw on our knowledge from last term to help us make it a balanced meal.
In Science, we will be focusing on animals and their habitats. This learning will strengthen our understanding of Charles Darwin's work and how animals are suited to their environment through adaptations. Not only this, but how they depend on each other too.
Make sure you check our 'Learning Journey' tab to find out what we will be getting up to!
Please remember...
If you have any concerns regarding your child, please feel free to contact your class teacher through Arbor. If you feel that the matter has not been resolved, please contact Miss Phipps, who is the Year 2 Leader.
